L & L Hawaiian BBQ

We have eaten at L&L in San Diego and in Hawaii, then found out there was one here in Aurora. Decided to check it out and see if it is as good here in Colorado. It was damn near close. I got the garlic shrimp with hopes that it would taste like Fumi’s. It didn’t but still really good garlic shrimp. I also got the Portuguese sausage, which also was good, but not quite the same.  Brian went with the BBQ mix that has multiple meats cooked in BBQ. It was marinaded well and very juicy.  One of the employees caught me taking a picture of the L&L bumper sticker, and two minutes later came over and handed me one for free.  Thanks awesome L&L employee! You guys are awesome.  It may not be straight from Hawaii, but it will hold me over until I get to go back again.

Omaha Steak Burgers @OmahaSteaks

Every year, Brian’s aunt sends us Omaha steak burgers.  These are the BEST burgers to make at home.  We don’t have a grill, so we pan fry them and they come out amazing! Juicy, tender, and beefy.  Ohh how I love Christmas time, just because I look forward to getting these burgers.  They usually have great deals on their website also.  If you have never had Omaha steak burgers, or anything else that they sell, then you are missing out.

Bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast

I typically write about places to go, but this time I made something at home that I had to tell everyone about.  These bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast were amazing the first night and even better as leftovers. The recipe is the easiest thing ever! Take 8oz of whipped cream cheese, chop up some green onions, chopped red bell peppers, garlic powder, salt and pepper and combine all together.  Slice the chicken breast long ways in half, and spread the mixture as much as you can really fit.  Then lightly fry up some turkey bacon just before it gets crispy.  Use the bacon to wrap the chicken and hold all of the mixture in it by using tooth picks. Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes and WAAA LAAA! Yumminess!

Cheesecake Factory

I struggle sometimes on where to go to dinner.  I am surrounded by so many great places ranging in price, type, and amazingness around me. The Cheesecake Factory is always a good staple to stick to.  the menu is so huge that no matter what you feel like eating, I am sure you will find it here.  If you have never been, I suggest keeping an open mind (maybe not too open, since the menu is so large) and check out the Cheesecake Factory.

Yard House

The Yard House is my new hangout.  I used to go to White Chocolate Grill all of the time, but that has faded and now Yard House is my new love.  They opened one blocks from my house, which makes it very convenient. I went to lunch one day and decided to try their french dip and tortilla soup.  The sandwich was okay, but the soup was amazing.  They also have great lunch specials and happy hour deals.

Mac 24/7 Man VS Food

Man VS Food:  Food won.  The three of us could not finish this sweet, succulent, peanut buttery giant. We didn’t even get half way through.  We certainly tried, but just couldn’t cut it.  This was three tiers of pancakes separated by bananas, bacon, and peanut butter sauce.  Amazing but just too much fluff for my tummy.

Give me more spam!

Yes I will admit it, I LOVE SPAM. Only in Hawaii though.  I cannot seem to cook/find spam the same way as I get it in Hawaii.  This place has a place in my heart and I will probably always go back as long as they are open.  Vit’s at the Ohana Maile Sky Court hotel has the best spam and eggs and pineapple fried rice ever.  This picture included just doesn’t do it justice.

Real Ramen

I love ramen.  It is cheap and fills your belly. But real ramen is awesome. I honestly don’t know what I order.  I point at the menu and eat it.  It is warm, fills my belly and taste awesome.  I am obsessed.  We ate at Ezogiku twice this trip because we all love it so much.  I even got my mother, who hates ramen, to try it and she loved it.  A great cheap eat in Waikiki.

Fumi’s Shrimp Cart

FUMI’S SHRIMP CART HAS THE BEST SHRIMP IN THE WORLD! Okay, I can’t speak for the world but I can speak for my belly, which LOVES shrimp. I am a shrimpaholic and this was the best cocktail my belly has had.  We stopped on the way out of North Shore Oahu and there it was.  Brian and I got the spicy garlic shrimp which was fucking phenomenal. Brian liked the rice a lot, but I had to dig into the shrimp.  My lips were on fire, but it was well worth it.  Matt, our friend that went to Hawaii with us, got the garlic shrimp and he claims that it was amazing as well.  We all felt so strongly about it that we had to get another plate and share.  We got the ginger shrimp this time, which was good.  But nothing compares to the spicy garlic shrimp.  It almost makes me so sad to know that I may never get that kind of shrimp on the main land.  😦  Here are some beautiful pictures of the amazingness.

Ezogiku Ramen

Now everyone has had ramen noodles, but have you had authentic ramen?  I have and it is cheap, amazing and warms your belly.  We went to this place across the street from the Hard Rock in Waikiki and it was so awesome.  I don’t think you could go wrong with any ramen choice there.  I wish I could get this in Denver.
