Pie Hole

We were on South Broadway one night at PunchBowl Social with some friends.  We were getting hungry and didn’t want to pay their ridiculous prices or eat their off the wall food, so we walked down Broadway looking for something to munch on. This aroma of pizza took over my nose and we wandered into Pie Hole. The place is a bit hidden but let your nose guide you. It was pretty packed with Saturday night Broadway traffic. We walked up and were greeted by the man making the pizzas.  You can basically get anything you want made by the slice, or as a whole pizza.  We ordered a few slices and within seconds they were in our hands.  The pizza was fairly cheap and obviously quick. The flavor is good, but it had been sitting there under the heat lamp for a little bit. I would give the flavor roughly a 6 out 10.  Not bad, but you have had plenty better.  For the price and location however, it was a great deal.

The Hornet

The sun was shining and enjoying some patio time was on my mind. My girlfriends and I walked down Broadway and picked the Hornet to enjoy some grub and light cocktails. We were seated on the patio with a great view of people watching. We ordered some mimosas and began looking over the food menu. The waitress seemed to take forever bringing our drinks and finally taking our food order. I got the cheeseburger and fries. A friend got the lobster mac and cheese. The food arrived quickly, which was brought by someone else other than our waitress. My burger was bland. It was as if they didn’t season the beef at all and just threw it on the grill. I was a little disappointed.  My friend’s mac and cheese however, was legit! The lobster chunks were huge.  It was ozzing with cheese. I learned my lesson.  Next time, get the lobster mac and cheese. The waitress took her time coming to check on us, which at that time we wanted more drinks. She took the drink order and brought out the wrong ones. She seemed little distracted.  Other than her and the bad tasting burger, I would say this is a good place to check out for drinks.

Go Fish Sushi

Some friends of ours wanted to do a sushi double date and I went on the hunt to find a new place to try.  Go Fish stuck out to me and so that is where we decided to go. The place is a little small, so we had a wait a bit, but not too long.  Long enough to sit at the bar and try the pineapple infused saki. Yup, you read that right. It was amazing.  I think it would taste better warm, but otherwise, it was perfect. We were seated in the corner which gave us a great view of the interesting folks walking down Broadway. None of us were too picky, so we just started to order away. A few rolls that we got that were amazing were the Naughty Roll, the Amazing roll and the Hot Orgasm Roll.  All were extremely good. After we were finished, the server brought us out shots of the pineapple saki and tempura fried cheesecake. Okay, you haven’t had cheesecake until you have had it tempura fried.  It is a whole different experience and it throws a lot of senses out of wack on your tongue. Great dinner! Amazing server (I told him this a few times throughout the dinner). Go Fish is now added to my top favorite sushi places of all time.

Pasquini’s Pizzeria

I used to go to the Pasquini’s in Lone Tree pretty often. The bartenders were on it, the servers were terrible and the food was okay. That location closed and I think it was due to a family feud over the name. The original Pasquini’s is still open on Broadway, so we decided to go there and compare. The service was excellent.  It was like night and day compared to the Lone Tree location.  The server (I didn’t catch his name) was awesome. He was quick with suggestions and consistently checking on us to make sure we were okay. The food was great. So much better than the Lone Tree location. I had the chicken parmesan. I feel like that is my go to at an Italian restaurant to judge how good their food is. The dish was a large portion and smothered in marinara, just the way I like it. My fiance picked the calzone. You get to pick up to 5 items to fill it with on the build your own option. It was also a large portion. Even though we had leftovers, the server talked us into getting cannolis. They were drizzled with chocolate syrup and tasted amazing. Extremely tasty food, great service and cheap happy hour prices on drinks. I highly recommend this place and will be back for sure!

Billy’s Gourmet Hot Dogs

After driving past this place about 50 times, we finally stopped in. I thought it was just a basic hot dog place, but I was wrong.  They have everything from a Chicago dog, to buffalo brats, duck dogs, Kobe beef dogs, you name it. The menu is actually really large. I knew the second my eyes fell on the chili cheese fries, I had to get them. Smothered in nacho cheese and oozing in red chili, who can say no to them?? I couldn’t! They were amazing!! A must have in my opinion. I could only get one dog, since the fries were so massive. I settled on a Chicago dog. It was really tasty, with all of the right peppers and even a poppy seed bun. They also have a few choices of local beers on tap to pick from.  The service we extremely fast for only having 2 people working and a full restaurant. I am definitely coming back and ordering each hot dog on the menu. All in all, fantastic place. Love the choices!!

Copper Pot on Broadway

I ‘like’ the Copper Pot on Facebook and it makes me happy.  They always post some delicious looking pictures on their page. This morning, they did it again and had to go for brunch.  They offer bottomless mimosas for a few dollars more then one, so I had to take advantage of that.  The service is always great. The staff is super friendly and ready with suggestions, like bottomless mimosas. 🙂 I feel like they are always consistent. Great service, great food, great prices and great location.  Thanks for always be a fantastic choice to feed my foodie belly!!

Brunch at The Copper Pot on Broadway

It really doesn’t get much better than bottomless mimosas and a Denver omelet smothered in pork green chile.  The Copper Pot has a great offering of this. The bartenders are constantly filling your flute with more mimosa and sharing thoughtful conversation. When a friend suggested we make this stop before running some errands, I knew it was a good choice.  The omelet was fluffy and filled with giant chunks of ham, peppers, and onions.  Each bite tasted better and more full of flavor than the one before. I highly recommend this place for a weekend brunch or a family dinner.

El Tepehuan on Broadway @ElTepehuan

It is hard to find good Mexican food in Colorado, but I have found one! El Tepehuan is nicely located on Broadway next to the BOB (Brew on Broadway).  I wanted to try a variety of food, so I got  a combo with ground beef tacos, cheese enchilada and a bean tostada. They were all very good.  The enchilada was smothered in spicy red sauce that is making my mouth water right now.  It was so messy, which means it is usually good.  🙂 Great ground beef tacos, that were seasoned very well.  They are fast and have great friendly service! Overall A for this cute Mexican joint.

Breakfast Queen II on Broadway

I absolutely love the Breakfast Queen. The food is phenomenal and the service is impeccable. It is also conveniently located for people watching. This morning I wanted to go there so bad. All I had to do was mention it to Brian and he was on board also.  We walked in and immediately were seated at a corner table. Yay! No wait. I was trying to decide between multiple things on the menu, but Brian stole one of them. So, it made it a little easier.  I went with my inner fat kid choice and got the Western breakfast burrito.  Pretty much anything smothered in green chile cannot be bad. Unless it is gluten free green chile, then I am out. Brian went with the gyro meat and eggs.  That was my first choice, but he beat me to it.  Both were so damn good. The burrito is so big that I had about half of it as leftovers, which makes Brian happy. If you have cash, or are willing to pay an ATM fee, then go on down to the Queen.  She is worth bowing down to.
