Meadowlark Kitchen

I had the pleasure of enjoying Meadowlark for dinner for a friend’s birthday.  She is very familiar with the place and goes quite often, so I was stoked when she said that is where we would be celebrating her birthday.

The place is quite small but they manage to fit a lot of people inside.  We wanted to be on the patio, but there was a private party already taking over the whole outside so we were seated right by the front door.

The table shared the Denver nuggets and the chips and dip.  Both were absolutely delicious. I really liked the dill sauce that came with the nuggets. It was the perfect amount of tangy. Brian went with the Meadowlark burger. That thing was HUGE! Oozing with cheddar sauce. It almost took over the burger, there was so much.  He said it was amazing and I don’t doubt it.  It looked phenomenal. I went with the BLT.  The best part about it was that it came loaded with candied bacon. When I say loaded, I mean loaded!  Fantastic food and drinks! The service was even better.  I felt like we were family.  The whole table was well taken care of, always refilling waters and cocktails. What a great place! I will be back for sure!

Patty’s Gourmet Hamburgers

I had heard that the newly open food truck was going to be in Monument at a moonshine distillery, so we decided to make the trek south to check it out. The owner, Rick, does a great job explaining how the burgers are made from scratch each day along with the amazing ketchup and mustard. If you like a burger with a kick, I suggest trying the peppered burger. They add some spicy ketchup and mustard to the mix to really tickle your taste buds. I went with the cheesy burger. It came out gooey with cheese and dripping from all of the natural juices from the very large burger patty. Cooked perfectly, I devoured the burger very quickly.  Be prepared for a messy burger, because these ones drip everywhere! I can’t wait to try the other burger options and see this food truck grow! Keep up the good work guys!

The Squeaky Bean

I met up with some fellow Yelpers to have brunch at the Squeaky Bean. I wanted to play bingo, since they are known for brunch and bingo, but apparently the bingo option was full. We arrived and began ordering some drinks. I tried my very first gin bloody mary, which surprisingly wasn’t that bad. The service was a bit slow bringing drinks and food out. I honestly didn’t feel like anything that they had on the brunch menu, so I ended having their cheeseburger. It was good, but not for $15.  Their whole menu is a bit overpriced for what you get. I wasn’t truly impressed, especially since I have heard great things about this place.

Bair’s All American Sports Grill

I was visiting my mom in Republic, Missouri for a few days and she kept swearing by Bair’s. I told her I had to try this place that she talks about all of the time. We stopped in for lunch at the location in Springfield. The waitress came by to take our drink order. I remembered seeing a sign for a Springfield brewery called Mother’s at the airport. I asked if they had anything from them and they did! I ordered the Tow Head American Blonde. Good smooth beer. I ordered a cheese burger and fries. I know, you are probably thinking I should have ordered something crazier, but I like to try to basics first. The burger came out and it was messy, delicious and juicy. Great burger! My mom got the sliders, which I think is a usual for her there. I ordered another Mother’s beer and tried the Three Blind Mice brown ale. Another good beer choice.  I decided then that we had to go to the Mother’s Brewery to try other beers that they offered. Bair’s has a great sports bar atmosphere. I love the food and the service was okay. I will be back when I visit Missouri again.

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar

A co-worker insisted I try Bad Daddy’s for an excellent burger. I cannot turn down such a request, so we stopped in to check this place out. The atmosphere is awesome. I like the look and feel of the place.  The staff were attentive and eager to assist at anytime during your visit. At one point I saw about 8 staff members in just the small area we were in checking on people, monitoring other staff members to make sure everything was up to par and running food/drinks. Great wait staff! We perused the menu and I settled with building my own burger.  On each table they have a pad of paper with all of the options and you can just check your life away on what toppings you want to make your burger yours. I went with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, american cheese, ketchup and garlic mayo. I ❤ garlic and when I saw that as an option, I had to check the box. Brian got the Oktoberfest Bratwurst burger. Holy cow! That thing was massive! And messy! Mine was messy as well, which of course is a good thing when it comes to a burger.  I liked my burger quite a bit, but felt that for the cost, it was just not the best.  They are a bit pricy for what you get.  I did love my experience there and the burgers were great, but not sure if this will become a frequent place for us.

Sams #3 in Aurora

A cousin was coming through town and I thought, what would the whole family like for dinner? Sams #3!! This was my first time at the Aurora location and it didn’t disappoint. I settled on a cheeseburger with green chili cheese fries. I thought I would be more excited about the fries, until the burger arrived. It was beautiful. It looked almost magical. I took one bite, and I was in love.  It was one of the best burgers I had eaten in a long time. I devoured the whole thing in just a few minutes.  Messy face and all. My family were using napkins and wiping my face.  Normally a person would be embarrassed by this, but the cheeseburger was so good, I didn’t care. It was juicy, cooked to a perfect medium rare, and dripping all of the plate. I think I have found something that I cannot stray from on the menu. I will probably always get the cheeseburger every time I go to Sams. The chili cheese fries were really good too, but I was too full from the burger so even make a dent in the fries. I can’t wait to go back and have another one.

The Hornet

The sun was shining and enjoying some patio time was on my mind. My girlfriends and I walked down Broadway and picked the Hornet to enjoy some grub and light cocktails. We were seated on the patio with a great view of people watching. We ordered some mimosas and began looking over the food menu. The waitress seemed to take forever bringing our drinks and finally taking our food order. I got the cheeseburger and fries. A friend got the lobster mac and cheese. The food arrived quickly, which was brought by someone else other than our waitress. My burger was bland. It was as if they didn’t season the beef at all and just threw it on the grill. I was a little disappointed.  My friend’s mac and cheese however, was legit! The lobster chunks were huge.  It was ozzing with cheese. I learned my lesson.  Next time, get the lobster mac and cheese. The waitress took her time coming to check on us, which at that time we wanted more drinks. She took the drink order and brought out the wrong ones. She seemed little distracted.  Other than her and the bad tasting burger, I would say this is a good place to check out for drinks.

Bob’s Atomic Burgers in Golden

I am always in for a great juicy burger. When we parked in the Coors Brewery parking lot and saw Bob’s Atomic Burgers, I knew what we were having after we enjoyed our free beer. We walked in and saw that the ordering process is a lot like WhichWich. There are  bags on a counter at the front door and you mark what you want on your burger.

IMG_7288

I marked each of my choices and walked up to the counter to turn in our order. We also got fries and a few sodas. I felt it was a little expensive for a small business burger joint, but if it was fantastic, then it would be worth it. We sat outside at a table to wait for our food.  It seemed to take more time than other tables.  People behind us in line were getting their food before we were. Finally ours arrived and we took our first bites. The burger was dry, thin and flavorless.  I was shocked.  This place was hopping and their reviews are good on Yelp. The burger was just not good. I did like the french fries, which was also shocking since the tip I got on Foursquare said their french fries were gross. I don’t think I will be back to Bob’s Atomic Burgers.  When I am in Golden, I think I will stick to Snarfs for a great sandwich.

Royal Hilltop

What did you do for National Burger Day? I went out and enjoyed a fantastic, juicy cheeseburger from Royal Hilltop.  If you haven’t been to this great establishment, then you should check it out.  They have an extensive beer list that has options for all. The food menu has a variety as well.  From burgers to grilled chicken to french dips. Knowledgeable staff as well.  The waitress always knows the details of every beer they have on tap. If you want a good bite to eat, and a cold tasty beer, hit up the Royal Hilltop. Totally worth it.

Crown Burger

I went to Crown Burger on a recommendation by a highly respected foodie. I am honestly disappointed. I was told they had some of the best burgers in Denver. Ehhh, not so much. We walked in and I noticed this is a Greek restaurant.  Why are they known for their burgers then? I ordered a regular cheeseburger and Brian got the Royal burger with pastrami.  The lady at the register (might be the owner) suggested the Royal burger, saying that is what they specialize in. We got the home fries to share and were off and running. My burger was bland. It lacked more than flavor, it didn’t even look appealing. Brian’s Royal burger however, did look enticing and rather large. He loved it and and boy was it messy. The fries were boring as well and needed some seasoning. After realizing this is a Greek restaurant, I will try the gyro next time with a side of baklava. Overall, I was not impressed, but I will go back to try something other than the burgers.
