Patty’s Gourmet Hamburgers

I had heard that the newly open food truck was going to be in Monument at a moonshine distillery, so we decided to make the trek south to check it out. The owner, Rick, does a great job explaining how the burgers are made from scratch each day along with the amazing ketchup and mustard. If you like a burger with a kick, I suggest trying the peppered burger. They add some spicy ketchup and mustard to the mix to really tickle your taste buds. I went with the cheesy burger. It came out gooey with cheese and dripping from all of the natural juices from the very large burger patty. Cooked perfectly, I devoured the burger very quickly.  Be prepared for a messy burger, because these ones drip everywhere! I can’t wait to try the other burger options and see this food truck grow! Keep up the good work guys!

Los Chingones DTC

Okay, I have now found my new favorite Mexican fusion type restaurant. This place is awesome! A friend told me it was a good place for a drink and good food. They hit the nail on the head. Fantastic atmosphere, super friendly staff, tasty margaritas, and eclectic Mexican food. I absolutely love this restaurant. The first time I went, I couldn’t figure out what to get.  I ended up starting with a salsa flight so I could try all of them. My favorite was the tomatillo salsa, but all were really good. For my entree I picked the tamal and a red chile pork shoulder taco. The taco was a bit bland, especially for having chipotle pineapple salsa on it. It was good, but I expected more out of it. The tamal was phenomenal! This is by far my favorite dish that I have had there. Oozing with chipotle cream, this dish is full of different flavors that all come together very well. I am in love with the tamal and can’t seem to get enough.  Each time I go, I try something different, but add the tamal. I still haven’t been to the location downtown, but if it is half as good as the DTC location, then I will be happy.

Ophelia’s Denver

My girlfriend’s and I are part of Bitches that Brunch Denver and are constantly trying new brunch spots.  We had heard about Ophelia’s and wanted to check it out.  We had an issue with seating right off the bat. All of their tables could really only accommodate a table of 4 and we had 6 girls. We had to all sit side by side, which made it difficult to have a conversation. They were playing a samurai type movie on the screen with a lot of blood shed and grossness.  Not exactly the type of movie you would like to see while eating. The server came over and took our drink and food orders. The specialty cocktails were very good. A little pricey, but well made.  I ordered the chicken and waffles served with slaw. It was interesting.  I felt it was pretty dry.  It had barely enough syrup to cover the chicken, leaving nothing for the dried waffles. I wasn’t impressed by the food and from what I could gather from everyone else, they weren’t either. We couldn’t find our server for another round of drinks, so our glasses sat empty. We were all done with our meal and ready to leave by the time he came back around, so we paid our bill and went elsewhere for drinks afterwards. I would maybe suggest this place for a show and drinks, but otherwise, I feel like it was a bust.

Old Blinking Light

We had some friends in from Chicago and we were showing them around town.  After leaving Red Rocks, we were trying to think of a place to have lunch, and Old Blinking Light came to mind.  We were seated on the patio on a beautiful day. I glanced over the menu and settled on the stacked enchiladas and added grilled chicken. I honestly just expected the usual chicken enchiladas.  Boy was I surprised when this beautiful dish arrived in front of me and looked almost too delicious to eat.  I jumped in and my mouth was even watering as I was consuming it.  I couldn’t eat it all because it was a very large portion, but I was very happy to get a to go box for the rest.  It was amazing!! Even the leftovers were amazing! I would suggest anyone who goes to OBL, get the stacked enchiladas!! You won’t be disappointed.

White Castle in Las Vegas?

Yes, there is now a White Castle located on the strip in Las Vegas. Everyone who wants to try them without going to the Midwest/East coast can now have a taste of the well known slider. I have enjoyed White Castle before in Chicago and found that they are quite tasty and I can put a few back. My cousin always orders them with extra pickles.  I should have remembered that when eating them in Vegas.  I forgot that tidbit, but they were still really good. I really wish they had a location in Denver.  That would make my year.  The best 2 things about the one on the strip, they are open 24 hours and they sell beer.  What can make this place better? Well, it is also attached to a casino! The place was hoping and cranking out burgers at a rapid rate.  If you haven’t tried White Castle, now is your time.
