Sushiritto from Ramen-Ya

If you haven’t had a sushiritto, you haven’t lived. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but I feel that way. We ordered a sushiritto and were going to split it between us.  They accidentally made another one, so they gave it to us for free.  This burrito was amazing! Great flavors throughout the burrito and great amount of spice from the wasabi.  I loved it! What a great concept.  Next time I am trying the ramen from this cute place in the Bazaar Shops.

Fontana Sushi

This is one of my favorite sushi places! The food is ALWAYS amazing and the staff is super friendly.  This is my first time at this location in Centennial (Aurora). We walked in on a Friday night and they were extremely busy.  We managed to find two seats at the sushi bar.  This is usually dangerous for me because I see all of the beautiful sushi rolls being made and I want all of them.  All of them. We started with the naruto roll, which was by far my favorite. Rolled ina  cucumber instead of nori gives it a different flavor that pops. Then we got a plate with a few rolls, some yellowtail (my favorite), some egg and eel. All of it was so delicious. This place makes me so happy.  I could eat here every day.

Bob’s Hawaiian Style Restaurant

While looking for places to eat in the Gardena area of California, we stumbled upon Bob’s Hawaiian. Having been to Hawaii a few times, I am always in search of some good spam. Well, I found some! Bob’s is a cute  restaurant owned by an adorable couple.  Great Hawaiian food and the staff were extremely friendly. The place wasn’t busy during the breakfast hours, but then again, it was during the week. I had to get the typical spam and eggs, with rice, macaroni salad and sausage. Excellent! All of it was excellent! If I am ever in the Gardena area again, I will for sure be back to Bob’s!

Ace Eat Serve

I was taking a class on 17th and Penn and was released for lunch. I have been to a few places in the area, but had never tried Ace Eat Serve.  When I walked in, I expected an American restaurant with burgers and such.  Boy was I wrong. After seeing the chopsticks on the tables, I knew I was in for something completely different than a burger. I couldn’t decide between the ramen, Mongolian Beef or a bento box.  I asked the server and he suggested that I try the bento box so that I could get a variety of things.  Great suggestion!! I got salmon, with jasmine rice, cucumber salad and for dessert chopped strawberries and mango. What a great arrangement for lunch.  You have savory and sweet all in one dish. The salmon was flavored very well and was a helping portion. I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. At the end, I had a giant fortune cookie. A great end to a delish dish.

Rumbi Island Grill

Now that I live in Aurora, I am very happy to say that I live close to a Rumbi again.  They closed all of the other locations in the Denver metro area, and that made me very sad.  They have fantastic Hawaiian food, which is hard to find in Colorado. I ❤ Rumbi so much! I tend to get the same thing each time I go.  I love the rice bowl with spicy teriyaki chicken. Bold flavors and tons of tasty veggies. I have tried other items there, but tend to circle back to the bowl.  The Kahuna burger is really good with pineapple and teriyaki sauce dripping off the sides.  The Rumbi fries are awesome.  It is a mixture of french fries and sweet potato fries with Rumbi fry sauce. My mouth is watering right now thinking of this sauce. The staff is friendly and they are quick to make the food and clean the tables. Why are you all closing? I don’t want you to go away!!

Saigon Terrace

Whenever I try a new Chinese food place, I like to order the kung pao chicken.  It is one of my staples and I feel you can gauge how good a place is on this dish. When I went to order the food online, their website kept stating that they were closed, even though it was after noon. I tried calling the 2 numbers listed on their site.  One sounded like a fax machine.  The other stated that the number had been disconnected. I really had a hankering for some kung pao, so I drove down to their restaurant and they were open.  As I walked in the doorway, the phone was ringing. I felt like I was in the twilight zone.  I told the hostess about the website and phones numbers.  She just looked at me like I was crazy and became very rude. Whatever, I wanted kung pao.

At this place you can order how hot you want it. No spice, mild, medium, spicy and extra spicy.  I went for the extreme and ordered extra spicy. After all, it was kung pao chicken. They handed my food to go, and I went back to work. As I started to eat the kung pao, expecting my mouth to burn,  I was very surprised.  It wasn’t hot at all.  It was about a mild spicy. The chicken was tough and the flavor was bland. So disappointed.  After speaking to other co-workers who have tried this place, they all said the same thing.  No spice, and no flavor. I won’t be going back to Saigon Terrace. This was just an overall bad experience.

Old Blinking Light

We had some friends in from Chicago and we were showing them around town.  After leaving Red Rocks, we were trying to think of a place to have lunch, and Old Blinking Light came to mind.  We were seated on the patio on a beautiful day. I glanced over the menu and settled on the stacked enchiladas and added grilled chicken. I honestly just expected the usual chicken enchiladas.  Boy was I surprised when this beautiful dish arrived in front of me and looked almost too delicious to eat.  I jumped in and my mouth was even watering as I was consuming it.  I couldn’t eat it all because it was a very large portion, but I was very happy to get a to go box for the rest.  It was amazing!! Even the leftovers were amazing! I would suggest anyone who goes to OBL, get the stacked enchiladas!! You won’t be disappointed.

Tequila’s

What is a better way to celebrate a coworkers work anniversary then having margaritas? Not much, in my opinion.  He wanted to go to Tequila’s. I had never been there, so of course I am up for trying it out. We first sat at the bar while we waited for a table to open up outside.  The patio is small, so we knew we would have to wait a bit. A Mariachi band played loudly behind us, taking suggestions on what to play. Sauza girls walked around giving out free shots and I did partake in a few of those. We ordered some house margaritas, which were strong and served with friendly smiles.

We were seated at a patio table out front and began looking over the large menu. I couldn’t figure out what I wanted.  Everything sounded so good. I decided to go with something I have never had before, the Alambre. Comes with fajita meat chicken and steak or your choice of grilled chicken, asada, al pastor, chorizo or carnitas, onions, bell pepper, mushrooms and fresh pineapple mixed with melted cheese. Served over a bed of rice. I got the grilled chicken and continued drinking my extremely strong margaritas. The food arrived and it was the largest portion of food I have ever been served. IT WAS HUGE!! I seriously could only eat about a 10th of the food.  That is no exaggeration. Great food, but my goodness, the portions do not need to be so large.  Overall, great place! I love it.

Rockyard American Grill & Brewing Company

If you are looking for a helping portion of good Mexican food in the Castle Rock area, then you should take yourself to Rockyard. Their Mexican food is pretty good and served in large portions. I know they seem more known for their beer and burgers, but I am a fan of the Mexican food.  The beer is not that great and I haven’t had their burgers to give a review.

This time I tried the chicken fajitas. They came out steaming and still cooking on the skillet. I loved these fajitas! The chicken was tender and well seasoned. The shrimp was excellent! Everything about this dish was tasty.  Typically, I am not a fan of Mexican rice, but consumed the whole plate full at Rockyard.  Brian got the green chili and queso smothered chimichanga. It was HUGE! The pork green chili was amazing and oozing around the plate. I say try their Mexican food at least once.  You won’t be disappointed.

The Yard House

Anyone who has been to the Yard House knows they have an extensive beer menu. I have learned that it isn’t just a great place to get a beer, they also have excellent food. In this instance, we had just watched a free concert by One Republic in the Park Meadows parking lot. Ryan Tedder mentioned how he loved The Yard House before leaving the stage. We thought the same thing and headed that way for a late dinner. After going over the menu multiple times, I landed on the salmon. It was a ginger crusted Norwegian salmon with wasabi mashed potatoes, snow peas, and carrots covered in a spicy peanut vinaigrette. I felt like the snow peas and carrots were overwhelming for the dish, but the salmon and potatoes were perfect. They were cooked extremely well.  Brian got the blackened swordfish tacos. All of the flavors of the fish, mango and papaya came together to make an excellent taco. Great food, great beer and fantastic service!
