Golden Saigon

Okay,

1. Thank you Yelp for suggesting Golden Saigon when I searched for pho places in Aurora.

2. Thank you Golden Saigon for being so damn amazing!

From the looks of the place outside, you would think it would be kind of a shit hole. But then you walk inside and see how beautiful it is.  I would really think it was a nice steakhouse if I only saw the inside and didn’t know what kind of food they served. We were greeted and seated in a booth.  Other people came in after us and were seated and ordered drinks. It did take a bit before we were greeted in our seats, but after that, the service was beyond phenomenal.  We started with some crab cheese wontons. Along with the wontons came an order of spring rolls on the house. The wontons were HUGE! And packed full! OMG they were fantastic. The spring rolls were flavored well.  Very tasty. As our meal we each got pho. That day they had a kobe beef pho available, so Brian had to get it.  I tried the rare beef pho, which is my fav. Both were excellent.  The broth was almost sweet.  This was different and a great change compared to most Vietnamese restaurants. Once we finished the pho, a server came by and asked how dinner was.  We kept raving about it.  He asked if it was our first time, and we replied yes.  Not even a minute later he was serving us strawberry shortcake and hot jasmine tea on the house.  The strawberry shortcake melted in your mouth and wasn’t too sweet.  The tea was the perfect finish for the evening.  The whole meal really couldn’t have gotten any better. We will be back. Many many many times!

Fontana Sushi

This is one of my favorite sushi places! The food is ALWAYS amazing and the staff is super friendly.  This is my first time at this location in Centennial (Aurora). We walked in on a Friday night and they were extremely busy.  We managed to find two seats at the sushi bar.  This is usually dangerous for me because I see all of the beautiful sushi rolls being made and I want all of them.  All of them. We started with the naruto roll, which was by far my favorite. Rolled ina  cucumber instead of nori gives it a different flavor that pops. Then we got a plate with a few rolls, some yellowtail (my favorite), some egg and eel. All of it was so delicious. This place makes me so happy.  I could eat here every day.

Rumbi Island Grill

Now that I live in Aurora, I am very happy to say that I live close to a Rumbi again.  They closed all of the other locations in the Denver metro area, and that made me very sad.  They have fantastic Hawaiian food, which is hard to find in Colorado. I ❤ Rumbi so much! I tend to get the same thing each time I go.  I love the rice bowl with spicy teriyaki chicken. Bold flavors and tons of tasty veggies. I have tried other items there, but tend to circle back to the bowl.  The Kahuna burger is really good with pineapple and teriyaki sauce dripping off the sides.  The Rumbi fries are awesome.  It is a mixture of french fries and sweet potato fries with Rumbi fry sauce. My mouth is watering right now thinking of this sauce. The staff is friendly and they are quick to make the food and clean the tables. Why are you all closing? I don’t want you to go away!!

Wing Hut in Aurora

Wing Hut has become my go to place for wings.  They have an ish ton of flavors and let you mix match to make your own concoction. My favorite is the basic buffalo hot wings, all flats. That is my order every time I go.  I tend to try different sides such as fried zucchini, curly fries, or jalapeno poppers. This particular time however, I tried a dessert. I don’t normally get dessert but the lady serving the beer convinced us to try the funnel cakes fries. The selling point was when she said chocolate and peanut butter.  Two of my favorite things together on funnel cake fries? Yes please!!

They came out glowing. Words cannot describe how delightful this dessert was. They almost melted in your mouth with better flavor than a Reese’s peanut butter cup. This is the best dessert I have ever had in my whole life. Even if you don’t like hot wings, or you are a vegetarian, go to Wing Hut and get the funnel cake fries! NOW!

Doug’s Day Diner

We are always in search of a new breakfast place to check out. After looking online for a few minutes, Doug’s came up. We walked in and the place was packed! I couldn’t believe how many people were there for a Monday morning.  There was one table available and it was right in front of the door. We were seated and started going over the menu. Even more people swarmed in to the point that they were right up against us at our table.  That part was a little annoying.  People bumping your table and head.  If we were at another table, this wouldn’t have been a problem. The menu isn’t very large, but still looked like it had some great options. The service by Tonya was extremely quick, even though the place was was overwhelmingly busy. She handled it well. The food was good, but I feel like it was a bit overpriced for basic breakfast choices. We will be back again, but hopefully on a day that isn’t busy.

Rosie’s Diner

What a cute little diner! This place is adorable and I love it. Super friendly, upbeat staff. Large menu to choices to pick from. I can’t get enough of this 50’s diner. We settled on the La Bamba skillet and the strawberry stuffed french toast. Both were served with a smile. The french toast was smothers with strawberries and cream. The La Bamba skillet was exactly what I wanted. Potatoes, covered with diced ham, onions, bell peppers, eggs and smothered with green chili. Delish!! I love everything about this place!

LuBo’s NY Pizza

We were looking for a new Italian place in the Aurora area and came across LuBo’s. We walked in and the place was kind of busy, especially for a snowy night. Good sign. We were greeted immediately and sat immediately. The staff were very upbeat and all seem to love their job. We ordered a pitcher of beer, a calzone and chicken parmesan. When the food arrived I was in heaven. The food looked amazing! The calzone was huge!! I couldn’t get enough of the chicken parm. It was cooked to perfection and oozing in marinara sauce and fried melted cheese on top. It is making my mouth water thinking about it right now. Excellent restaurant. Great staff, great food and perfect atmosphere. Love this place and I will be back for sure!

Fritangas!

Mexican food and brunch always go well together in my books. We moved down the street from this place called Fritangas. The building used to be a Taco Bell back in the day and now has turned into a small quick dining joint. We finally tried it out and were not disappointed. I got a chicken fajita omelet with spicy pork green chili and hash browns. Brian decided on chorizo and eggs with potatoes, beans and mild pork green chili. What I learned was that their spicy green chili is on fire! The mild has better flavor and you can taste your food. 🙂 The chicken fajita omelet was killer. The food and service were fantastic.  The only drawbacks for this place is that the seating area is small and they close pretty early if you want a late night bite.

Sams #3 in Aurora

A cousin was coming through town and I thought, what would the whole family like for dinner? Sams #3!! This was my first time at the Aurora location and it didn’t disappoint. I settled on a cheeseburger with green chili cheese fries. I thought I would be more excited about the fries, until the burger arrived. It was beautiful. It looked almost magical. I took one bite, and I was in love.  It was one of the best burgers I had eaten in a long time. I devoured the whole thing in just a few minutes.  Messy face and all. My family were using napkins and wiping my face.  Normally a person would be embarrassed by this, but the cheeseburger was so good, I didn’t care. It was juicy, cooked to a perfect medium rare, and dripping all of the plate. I think I have found something that I cannot stray from on the menu. I will probably always get the cheeseburger every time I go to Sams. The chili cheese fries were really good too, but I was too full from the burger so even make a dent in the fries. I can’t wait to go back and have another one.

Tequila’s

What is a better way to celebrate a coworkers work anniversary then having margaritas? Not much, in my opinion.  He wanted to go to Tequila’s. I had never been there, so of course I am up for trying it out. We first sat at the bar while we waited for a table to open up outside.  The patio is small, so we knew we would have to wait a bit. A Mariachi band played loudly behind us, taking suggestions on what to play. Sauza girls walked around giving out free shots and I did partake in a few of those. We ordered some house margaritas, which were strong and served with friendly smiles.

We were seated at a patio table out front and began looking over the large menu. I couldn’t figure out what I wanted.  Everything sounded so good. I decided to go with something I have never had before, the Alambre. Comes with fajita meat chicken and steak or your choice of grilled chicken, asada, al pastor, chorizo or carnitas, onions, bell pepper, mushrooms and fresh pineapple mixed with melted cheese. Served over a bed of rice. I got the grilled chicken and continued drinking my extremely strong margaritas. The food arrived and it was the largest portion of food I have ever been served. IT WAS HUGE!! I seriously could only eat about a 10th of the food.  That is no exaggeration. Great food, but my goodness, the portions do not need to be so large.  Overall, great place! I love it.
